Work

Haven't been blogging for a long long time? Just a short update. Finished my thesis (thanks to my supervisor for all the advise n help), passed all my final semester exam. So that means that i would be able to graduate on time. ^^. Hmm.. currently working as a software engineer? Or C developer. In a small telco solution company.

Having fun here. Still learning the in and out of the source code. Nice co-workers (all guys though). This would be ending my 2nd week working here. Still think that it's more fun than studying? Maybe cause it's still new, or maybe I'm finally doing something I like. No more memorizing subjects? ^^

Let's see, what else. Finally finish packing my stuff last weekend and left Skudai forever! I guess most people still on holiday? ^^ Have fun ppl. Missing all my makan, playing, movie-ing kaki. You know who you are. Try to meet up during weekends ya? (Lucky me, most ended up in KL area. ^^)

Uni life..

Uni life is going to end soon for me. Just left my thesis report and finals. These 5 years here had been fun! A lot of up and downs. Should be happy that I'm graduating, but yet.. I'm actually sad. After leaving uni, how many of my close friends would I ever meet again? People come from all over the country, so naturally, when they leave, would go back to all over the country. Most of them would end up in Penang though. My guess is Penang would be like Tmn U again for them.

Sometimes I really wonder if I would ever meet most of those people I know from uni again. Maybe some of my close friends I would try to make the initiative to find them. But how long would it last? From experience, my high school friends only meet up once a year or the most, twice a year. Now that everyone is going to start working, those chances are even lesser now. That's also we are all from the same area, but now... All over the country..

I think I'm rambling and not making any sense. Even to myself. =.="

MICE Exhibition

I joined MICE (Microelectronics and Computer Engineering) Exhibition on the 4th and 5th April. Very tiring (as in rushing to finish my project before the start of the exhibition). I stayed in lab on the 3rd from 12.30pm - 3.30pm. Went out to buy some stuff, have a meal. Then went back to lab at 5pm. Stayed there until 6.30am. Went back home to change my clothes, bathe then went back to lab at 7.30am until 5.30pm. To think that I have to present so many times with the tired look and the tired face. It's amazing that I still could go out for fries and fried chicken with AL. HAHA.

Let's see, on the 1st day, the scariest thing was when Mr. Z brought the TNC over to my booth and ask me to explain. I was like. Oh SHIT! Never expected to present in the morning. Was still very blur. I just crapped out some stuff. Lucky Mr. Z explained further. Damn pai seh. Then later that day is my presentation for my final year project and also for the exhibition itself.

I was actually quite lucky, I guess that the panel don't really know about my project or what the heck is HTTP Client or web application framework cause they didn't ask any deep technical questions. But the questions almost gave me heart attack. What do you mean by low cost? I was like, OMG! Where your product is most suitable for? Luckily that even though I was so tired but my brain is still somewhat working. I just crap something out, while looking at my supervisor. He was there as well, looking at my presentation. Scary man. =P

2nd day was a bit more relaxing. just need to explain my project to visitors. I was beginning to hate my long long title by the end of the second day. Imagine repeating "Building security and access system using web application framework and Low Cost Network Appliance" for God knows how many times. Then the time for closing ceremony is here. It was delayed for about 30 minutes. ZZzzzzz. Well, to end it all, I got some souvenirs from Intel (a book, pen and a stapler), a participation certificate and a piece of plastic which states that someone got the 2nd prize in the Software Category. That's all I guess. Time to do my thesis report!

Congrats to Eugene for winning the 1st prize in Embedded/Networking Category, James for winning the 3rd prize in Embedded/Networking Category. Hmm. I should write about some of the more interesting projects in the exhibition. Those which I became the white mice of course. Fun stuff. One is about heart sound and ECG, the other is about EEG.

Hyper

I'm hyper now. ^^. The result of sleeping for 20 hours. Hyper + headache. Hey! I'm not lazy for sleeping 20 hours k. It's more like, 1st day - 5 hours, 2nd day 5 hours, 3rd day no sleep, 4th day KO for 20 hours. Now have to get back to work. ASAP.

Just a note, thanks to AL for the great lunch yesterday. ^^ 3 different type of cakes.. slurrrpp.. chicken.. slurrrppp... ^^

Lazy

Didn't blog for quite some time now. Lazy. =) Some things happen lately. Friend got admitted to the hospital for dengue fever. LI project deadline next Monday. I'm so dead. =) Need to gambatte.

Basic framework must be up by today. Or before class later today. Complete framework by tomorrow. Saturday, get the Intel Hex code generation done! GAMBATTE! One last note, get well soon AL. Your body need to gambatte in producing platelet liao. Discharge by SUNDAY!!! Hahaha. Hyper now. Overdose of coffee. ^^. Going to bed for 2 hours. Hopefully I would be able to wake up to do my project. Blek.

Happy Chinese New Year

I went to Titiwangsa Lake with AL on Friday. It was worth all the effort going there. The firework display was awesome. (Even though I don't know how did I manage to get home that night. =P) Too bad I don't know where did I chuck my tripod. Never bring with me. So pictures didn't really turn out well. =(

Water damage

My camera died. After I used it in the rain. Stupid of me I know but I didn't know that the camera is so sensitive to the rain or water. Sending it to repair center tomorrow. So sad. Don't know if it could be repaired. Time for a new camera? Shit. Less than 1 year. Haihz.

Happy New Year

A bit late, but better late than never right? I went over to Singapore on New Year's eve. Not for countdown, but to find a friend of mine who transit at Changi Airport. =) I have a grand tour of Changi Airport. Hehe. From terminal 1 to terminal 2. End to end. It was fun finally getting to meet CL. After more than 4 years. Hope to see you soon. (Time to get a hp don't you think? It's not like you are going to read my blog. =P)

Just to share some photo I took in Singapore. Not very impressive, but this is the best of the whole lot. This was taken near Esplanade in Singapore. There was tons of people there at 8pm. The fireworks display must be great! Hehe. Too bad I was in Changi that time.

Internet slowdown

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP): A strong earthquake off Taiwan's southern coast damaged undersea cables, cutting off phone and Internet service Wednesday to parts of China, South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and the United States, companies said. The temblor killed two people.

Repairing the cables harmed by Tuesday's 6.7-magnitude quake could take three weeks but "quality will improve day by day,'' said Lin Jen-hung, vice general manager of Chunghwa Telecom Co., Taiwan's largest phone company.

The company said damage to a cable off Taiwan's southern coast has interrupted 98 percent of Taiwan's communications capacity with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong.

The damaged lines knocked out Internet service for some Hong Kong customers, who were unable to access Web sites in parts of Asia and the U.S.

Hong Kong telephone company PCCW Ltd., which also provides Internet service, said several undersea data cables were damaged in the quake.

"Data traffic to Taiwan, Korea, Japan and the United States are affected,'' PCCW said in a statement.

The company also warned customers that they may experience congestion for several days on the Internet because of an upsurge in use as people surf the Web for more information about the quake.

Financial traders in Hong Kong -- one of Asia's biggest business capitals -- complained they lost their connection to Bloomberg LP, a key provider of news and data about stock markets. Bloomberg declined to immediately comment on the outage.

Internet access has been cut or has become extremely slow in Beijing, said an official from China Netcom, China's No. 2 phone company.

The official, who would not give his name, said the cause was thought to be the earthquake, but he had not further details. Businesses in various parts of the city also said they were experiencing Internet access problems.

CCTV, the state-run television network, said the earthquake had damaged undersea communications cables from China to the United States and from Asia to Europe.

It said China Telecom Corp., China's biggest phone company, was contacting counterparts in the United States and Europe about using satellites to make up for the shortfall.

The quake, which hit offshore from the town of Hengchun near Taiwan's southern tip, came on the second anniversary of the tsunami that killed more than 200,000 lives in southern Asia.

Japan's Meteorological Bureau said Tuesday a one-meter (3.3-foot) tsunami might be headed toward the eastern coast of the Philippines, but officials later lifted the warning.

In Taiwan, two members of one family were killed Tuesday in Hengchun when their four-story home collapsed. Six other members of the family were rescued from under the rubble early Wednesday, the National Fire Agency said in a statement.

The quake injured 42 people, three homes collapsed and 12 fires broke out, the fire agency said.

Tuesday's quake was felt throughout Taiwan. It shook buildings and knocked objects off the shelves in the capital, Taipei, in the northern part of the island.

Several high-rise hotels swayed violently in the southern city of Kaohsiung, CTI Cable News reported.

Liao Ching-ling, a manager at the city's Ambassador Hotel, said the quake was the strongest she had ever felt.

"The building swayed so badly that many guests panicked and ran out of their rooms and into the streets,'' she said.

Quakes frequently shake Taiwan, which is part of the Pacific's "Ring of Fire,'' an arc of volcanos and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin. Most are minor and cause little or no damage. However, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake in central Taiwan in September 1999 killed more than 2,300 people.

Back in Skudai

Just came back to Skudai on Sunday (yesterday). Sien. So many years never celebrate my bday at home. So where should I go this year? Went to Singapore last year with juniors. A lot of humans. Sprays. Tiring but fun.

Don't know what should I do this year. Maybe I should just drive to Desaru again. To enjoy the sea breeze. (I tried that one year, but I took a wrong turn and ended up in Mersing. Nice breeze, but no nice beach. Maybe I just don't know where. Sien. Should be sleeping, but not at home. Haha. So decided to post a crappy blog post.

Oh yeah, SJ ppl, don't put my name for any more free trials for gym (you know who you are). They actually called me. You guys said they won't. Kacau saja. Not like I'm ever going to a gym where you have to pay for membership. I only went gym twice. The gym in UTM which is FOC! Not that I'm anti-gym or what (no offence to u wp), but I feel that if you wanna exercise, no need to pay so much just for a gym membership, just go for a walk, jog, cycling or something.

Okay, better go, brain is shutting down. One last thing, when is considered early december? Early december is definately over right? Hmmmm...
