Fake Model

This is a tutorial posted for my convenience only (so that I would remember how to produce the same effect next time). For the actual tutorial, please visit Receding Hairline.

  1. Open the photo. Adjust, crop, rotate the photo first.

  2. Use keyboard shortcut 'q' to enter Quick Mask mode.

  3. Use keyboard shortcut 'd' to set the color to default.

  4. Click on the 'switch' button to switch the background and foreground color.

  5. Click on the Gradient Tool (beside the eraser tool).

  6. Click on the 4th button on the tool bar (look like a diagonal tube).

  7. Choose the focal point (where you want the picture to be clear).

  8. From the focal point, click and drag upwards.

  9. Exit from the Quick Mask mode by using keyboard shortcut 'q'.

  10. Choose Lens Blur filter (Filter -> Blur -> Lens Blur).

  11. Use the following setting:
    1. Invert : checked (I had to invert mine. Not sure why)
    2. Iris : Hexagon (6)
    3. Radius : 57
    4. Brightness : 35
    5. Threshold : 254

  12. Adjust the curve (Image -> Adjustments -> Curves)

  13. Use the following setting:
    1. Input : 135
    2. Output : 210
That's all to create a Fake Model Photo.
